Well before evDEC existed, EVEA teams were already supporting manufacturers in producing their first FDES, PEP and EPDs.
At the time, LCA was still a niche practice. Data were difficult to structure, and building-sector reference frameworks were evolving step by step.
EVEA has been conducting LCAs for construction products since 2011 and continues to contribute to standardisation committees (AFNOR P01E).
On the ground, one reality quickly became clear and remains so today:
producing a reliable EPD requires time, method and solid expertise.
EVEA’s teams (engineers, approved verifiers, LCA consultants) spent their days solving very concrete issues: modelling complex product ranges, tracking formulation changes, comparing variants, anticipating verification requirements.
Always with the same ambition: helping manufacturers produce robust data.
Project after project, a simple idea emerged:
what if all this expertise could be brought together in a single tool?
A tool that would streamline modelling, secure results and make EPD production more accessible, without sacrificing rigour.
That is how evDEC came into being: not as yet another piece of software, but as the extension of a profession practiced for over twenty years.
Today, EVEA’s Building Division brings together approved verifiers, engineers specialised in construction products and electrical equipment, and the in-house software development team.
